It's a love story,
Baby, just say, "Yes, and..."
In the fall of 2021, Eleanor and Adam were both starting their first quarter of their Master's program at Savannah College of Art and Design. All members of the Dramatic Writing Graduate Cohort were required to take an "Improvisation for Writers" course. Eleanor and Adam had never interacted with each other before. In one of the first classes, an exercise is performed where the professor (Shout out to Averie Storck) asks two students why they were late. They look at each other, take a breath, and launch into a scene where they build off of their partner with the classic improv mantra "Yes, and..."

Falling slowly, sing your melody
I'll sing it loud
Adam was first to go, having done the example with Averie. Eleanor saw this as an opportunity to work with someone she thought was good and get it over with as soon as possible. From Adam's perspective, she races over to the chair next to him as if her life depended on it. Averie asked "Why were you late?" Eleanor and Adam Looked at each other, took a breath, looked out, and Eleanor blurted "We got engaged!" They proceeded to tell the story of an impromptu engagement featuring a picnic, ducks, and a love worth being late to class for.

All at once, everything is different
now that I see you
Fast forward to later that week and Eleanor and Adam once again interact at a start-of-the-year department meet-and-greet. They realized they were both from Virginia, both studied Musical Theater Performance in undergrad, and so on... He offered to drive her back to her apartment and got her phone number (score!). It wasn't until later that weekend that Adam texted Eleanor (A classic pickup line "Sup! It's Adam LeKang!"). They started to hang out, watching things like the Come from Away pro shot, so Adam learned early on that Eleanor was a crier in a good way.

You turned a moment
Into forever
Their first official date was to a chicken finger restaurant on Tybee Island called Spanky's, but the truth is that they were too excited to wait for their planned first date and had a Wendy's picnic at Forsyth Park. Fortunately, a lovely older woman asked if we wanted our picture taken when we went to the beach, so we have a record of our very first moments together.

Love me, that's all I ask of You
They have the Washington Capitals to thank for officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. Adam had asked Eleanor to come over and watch the first game of the season on Oct 13, 2021. They've been in love ever since.
And the rest is history.
